Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 – What Legacy for Culture this time?

In the second event in this series we’re discussing the impact and legacy of mega events and International sports competitions on the local cultural sectors that receive and contribute to them. We’ll be exploring this through the lens of Glasgow2026, the second time the city has hosted the Commonwealth Games in twelve years – a unique context.
This iteration of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Glasgow, “a reimagined Games”, has been framed by its distinctive approach to legacy planning – a focus on legacy evaluation from the outset, underpinned by a co-created Story of Change: Legacy and Impact Plan which frames the potential legacy of this year’s Games under the heading of Five Common Wealths: sporting, cultural, diplomatic, economic, and social.
