On Thursday 20 February we hosted our first SOUP event – a night of inspiring pitches, delicious food from Parveens, and meaningful connections.
Inspired by the Detroit SOUP model, this event gave our members four minutes to pitch their innovative ideas with the audience before a vote for the winning pitch. Congratulations to Lauren & Fi from Girls Rock Glasgow who walked away with the donations from the door. The prize fund of £338.90 will go towards supporting girls and non-binary kids (8-16) at their annual rock school this summer. You can find out more about the incredible work they’re doing to empower confidence, creativity and noise at girlsrockglasgow.com.
Thank you to our hilarious and talented host, Kate Hammer, who kept the energy high all night. Known for her wit and charm, Kate is the “neurodivergent, anemic, gluten-intolerant, queer writer and comedian of your coolest dreams,” and she certainly lived up to that reputation, adding the perfect touch of humor to the evening. And thank you to our incredible BSL interpreter Mel Toner for keeping up with the pace!
A massive thank you to everyone who pitched their creative ideas – Zaim Ali, Glenna Morrison, Jennifer Kennedy, Anne Yeomans, Karen McIver and Antje Bothin – we were blown away by the incredible talent and passion in the room! We can’t wait to see where these ideas go and to continue supporting our amazing community. Until next time!
