Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our Developing Creative Lives and Livelihoods event at Civic House. This vibrant showcase brought together an inspiring mix of projects, initiative and individuals who are shaping the future of creative eduction, training and professional development across the city. A huge thank you to all of our incredible panelists for sharing their valuable insights and expertise. Your contributions were truly inspiring! And to everyone who attended, asked questions and helped bring the event to life with your energy and enthusiasm – thank you!
As part of our Developing Creative Lives and Livelihoods Showcase we also hosted a Student/Graduate SOUP event. Inspired by the Detroit SOUP model, four emerging creatives were given four minutes to pitch their innovative ideas with the audience before a vote for the winning pitch. Helena Powell pitched a project based on sustainable textiles, Anupa Joshy pitched Colour Theory – a new platform designed to amplify the voices of artists and designers from underrepresented backgrounds in Scotland, Betsy King pitched an initiative focused on developing accessible environments that support artistic community and collaboration and Clyde Williamson pitched an idea to create the worlds biggest kilt in collaboration with Refuweegee.
And the winner was…
Clyde Williamson! He was awarded £200 for his winning pitch which he hopes to use to source fabrics for the project. Congratulations Clyde, we can’t wait to follow this project as it progresses!
