Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2025
The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF) will take place from 20 October to 9 November 2025, exploring the theme of ‘Comfort & Disturb’. There are currently several opportunities for artists, organisations, and volunteers to get involved with the festival.
Volunteer Collective: SMHAF are looking for ten people to join their new volunteer collective — a year-round volunteer group that will help us tell powerful stories, support events, and explore mental health through creative content.

New Producers: Applications are open for Film Hub Scotland’s New Producers programme! Apply for placements with SMHAF, Macrobert Arts Centre, Scottish Documentary Institute, and North East Arts Touring (NEAT).

Writing Competition: Enter their writing competition with new fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction inspired by mental health and our theme of ‘Comfort & Disturb’.

Event Submissions: Their open event submission process allows organisations to host events as part of the festival programme. Events can include exhibitions, creative workshops, performances, live music, film screenings, discussion events, and much more – anything that uses the arts or creativity to engage people in mental health.
